Position Summary:

Dominican University is seeking a full time Simulation Technician to support the Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) programs and daily operations through preparation, maintenance and organization of space, equipment, supplies and inventory used in the CSC. The Technician also supports CSC users (faculty, students and others) in use of the CSC, with the primary goal of creating and maintaining an effective healthcare learning environment. The Simulation Technician reports to the Clinical Simulation Center Manager.

Responsibilities:

1.   Support faculty, students and approved visitors in the use of simulation space and equipment

2.   Prepare and break down simulators, part-task trainers, simulations rooms, and other equipment/props for lab events

3.   Prepare, program and operate simulation equipment, and audio visual systems during simulation events, including maintaining simulators, part-task trainers, simulations rooms, and other equipment/props in functioning order through monitoring of appropriate use, and providing and/or scheduling preventive/regular maintenance on simulation center equipment, including software and hardware, while maintaining warranties

4.   Maintain connectivity to simulation equipment and audio visual systems, troubleshoot simulation software, hardware and network connectivity issues when needed

5.   Consult and support IT in problem solving and process improvement regarding simulation equipment and networks when needed

6.   Maintain and stock sufficient inventory of durable and disposable supplies for lab events

7.   Assist with equipment and inventory management

8.   Assist in maintaining reference materials, equipment specifications and operation manuals for all equipment

9.   Assist with overseeing student worker activities

10. Assist with scheduling student workers and requested lab events

11. Assist with data entry and maintenance of simulation program databases

12. Assist with CSC tours with internal and external groups as needed

13. Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

1.   Good interpersonal skills; capable of taking direction from superiors, and working with students, faculty, staff, and other customers

2.   Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

3.   Proficiency with Excel and Word programs

4.   Technical aptitude with ability to learn simulation programs

5.   Ability to lift, carry and move supplies or equipment up to 50 pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1.   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

2.   Experience working with AV equipment and mannequin-related software

3.   Health care background valued, but not essential

4.   Work experience in a simulated health care environment with mannequins, task trainers, and actors
