Basic Function:
The role of Marketing Production Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing Production. The position requires the creative and technical skills to help coordinate and complete a variety of projects, including collateral layout and updating, project scheduling, requesting and assessing vendor bids, and serving as primary liaison with in-house print services. This individual will be passionate about being collaborative, highly organized, adaptable, and have high standards for accuracy and consistency.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and assure the adherence to production schedules for assigned initiatives; organizing within a workflow management system in order to assess available resources
  • Administer an annual calendar of marketing and communications projects in collaboration with Senior Manager of Marketing Production and other division leadership
  • Attend marketing and communications meetings and relevant campus partner meetings related to university initiatives, representing available resources and the processes for efficient project completion
  • Work with Senior Manager to define specifications for deliverables, which can range from decorative banners to exhibit materials, multi-page print pieces to emails or digital ads
  • Coordinate and organize vendor bids based on defined specifications
  • Accurately make revisions to design files based on campus partners and internal edits in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
  • Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that may arise during production
  • Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
  • Create PDFs for print and client review
  • Provide design support, including creation of materials based on adherence to templates/branding guidelines
  • Select and prepare of imagery for marketing collateral
  • Catalog and reference art for future projects
  • Assist Senior Manager on project workflow and traffic management as required

    Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in design or other related discipline or significant course work/demonstrated experience in graphic design, print production, visual arts or a related field. A portfolio is a plus.
  • Skilled and efficient in the use of Adobe CC Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Strong typographic and layout skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently, manage multiple projects effectively, work collaboratively, and be responsive under deadline pressure
  • Experience in higher education a plus
