Lake Forest College seeks a full-time Department Assistant/Dispatcher who will work primarily on either a 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm schedule (which will be determined at the time of hire).  The Department Assistant duties include but are not limited to processing department payroll cards, tracking staff PTO usage, coordinating parking permit requests, coordinating authorized key sign-out listings, dispatcher scheduling, bank statement reconciliation, maintaining department files, lead operating programmer for an access control system, maintaining office equipment/supplies levels, and other duties as assigned.

The Dispatcher duties include but not limited to answering all incoming calls for routine and emergency services, inquiries, and general assistance matters.  Dispatching on-duty Public Safety personnel to respond to calls for service/assistance, recording all information into the Department’s various database records and log sheets (Dispatch Records, Vehicle Records, Key Control Records, Property Records, Fire Systems, Access Control Systems, and all other logs as assigned), assists walk in traffic with their requests for routine and emergency services, inquiries, and general assistance matters, monitors all local law enforcement and fire department frequencies and dispatches Officers and other emergency services when necessary,  monitors critical fire alarms systems, access control systems, security alarm systems, and CCTV systems and dispatches Officers and other emergency services when necessary, handles roll-over calls not answered by switchboard when they are open, and all general campus switchboard calls after normal business hours, Initiates campus-wide emergency notification system as necessary per policy.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook is necessary. Positive communication and organizational skills are essential. Previous related dispatcher experience is preferred.
