Job description

Duties: The department of Cancer Biology is currently seeking an experienced molecular biologist with proven bench skills to conduct advanced experiments in breast cancer research. The job will include a combination of independent and team driven projects. Special emphasis is placed on techniques such as cloning, DNA/RNA isolation, cDNA/cRNA preparation, q-PCR, Western blot, Southern blot, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and tissue culture.

Some of the work is done in the University's animal facility and requires gowning. It would be helpful if the candidate is not allergic to mice/rats. Additionally, some work is done in a clean room and gowning is also required.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with recombinant DNA techniques, tissue culture, cloning, and working with small animals is highly preferred; experience with ES cell targeting and flow cytometry is highly desirable. The candidate must possess excellent communication, organizational and computer skills as well as have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Experience conducting whole animal studies involving rodent models would be advantageous.
