General Summary: The Communication, Media & Journalism department seeks a part-time instructor to teach Writing for Media and Directing for Motion Pictures I on the Gainesville campus during the Fall 2017 semester. The Writing for Media course serves as the foundational writing class for CMJ's Film & Digital Media program and as such introduces students to the process and formatting conventions of writing for various mass media, including film, television, radio, Internet, and non-broadcast audio applications. Directing I is required of all Film & Digital Media majors and helps students develop a visually compelling cinematic language while also learning the skills necessary for a director to perform effectively during pre-production and principal photography.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The PT faculty's duties include:
  • Teaching Writing for Media and Directing for Motion Pictures I
  • Communicating with departmental colleagues regarding choice of text, common assignments, and standardized rubrics and grading
  • Reporting grades in a timely manner
  • Following all guidelines in the Faculty Handbook for part-time instructors


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Applicants must have completed at least 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in screenwriting, film, digital media, or related discipline, or possess the equivalent in professional experience.
