The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates for a Research Assistant Professor to work in the area of reproductive perinatal epidemiology along with Drs. Jef Ferguson, MD, Donald Dudley, MD, and Anna Maria Siega-Riz, PhD. The incumbent will lead studies examining environmental factors and their role in perinatal health outcomes employing molecular epidemiology, molecular biology wet-bench work, and biomarker analysis. As a member of the Department of Obstetrics the candidate is expected to interact with other faculty members within the School of Medicine and across the University, including but not limited to, environmental sciences and engineering on the role of common environmental toxicants effects on pliable epigenetic marks during development that influence perinatal health and disease. In addition he/she is expected to participate in Departmental activities, and lead efforts in mentoring maternal fetal medicine trainees and junior faculty members. The selected candidate will be expected to formulate independent research projects which will be submitted for outside funding and that result in publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at national/international meetings. Candidates must have a PhD in one of the following fields environmental sciences, epidemiology and biomedical engineering (BME) with cross training in the molecular toxicology, reproductive epidemiology and public health sciences and at least two years of post-doctoral experience.
