The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Program Leader to function as a manager/supervisor for all UVA/Air Force studies located at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB), Biloxi, Mississippi; Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas; Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas; some studies at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland/Ft Sam Houston; and any future bases added as an off-site units of the Department of Public Health Sciences. This individual is responsible for managing all aspects of the planning, implementation, and coordination of the research procedures at these bases. This position will assist with the development of interventions, evaluations, assessments, and protocols; serve as a senior research staff member and advise other senior staff regarding collaboration with the Air Force for Department of Public Health Sciences research. This position will train and supervise project employees as specified, as well as establish goals and objectives for the research team. This position monitors study activities to ensure compliance with protocols and regulatory and institutional policies; identifies protocol problems, inform investigators of problems, and assists in problem resolution efforts; provides updates and status reports to senior research leadership as requested.

A Master's degree with three years of related research experience, including consenting study participants, providing behavioral counseling, and working with research databases, is required. A Bachelor's degree with five years related experience as above; OR a combination of college course work and (military) work experience to equal eight years, may be considered. Candidates must have knowledge of research methodology; supervisory experience; managerial experience; as well as counseling experience. Experience to include association with the military is also strongly preferred.

This is a restricted position contingent upon the continued availability of funding. Position will remain open until filled.
