Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD, DO and/or PhD degree, with postdoctoral training in basic, translational, or clinical research.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Applicants must have demonstrated experience and accomplishment in research in an area relevant to the field of anesthesiology. For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor levels, a strong record of accomplishment, including securing independent research funding and national stature appropriate for a tenured position, are required. For applicants seeking a clinical practice component, completion of MD or DO degree, residency training, American Board of Anesthesiology eligibility or certification, and Wisconsin Medical License are required.



License or certificate:

For clinical practice, must be eligible for Wisconsin medical license; and ABA certified or eligible for certification.



Position Summary:

The primary focus will be to develop and lead an independent research program that addresses a topic relevant to the field of anesthesiology. Preferred directions include: 1) understanding and developing effective therapies for chronic pain; 2) basic or clinical neuroscience topics relevant to perioperative care, including physiology and pathophysiology as well as clinical outcomes; 3) understanding, treating, and preventing opiate addiction.
