Job Summary

This position will focus on human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture and differentiation into cardiac cells for use in high-throughput drug screening, drug delivery in animal models, and cardiac tissue bioengineering.

Job Description

A Full Time 100% Professional Research Assistant position is available for a motivated individual with preferentially a Masters or PhD degree to primarily work on cutting-edge iPSC-based projects in the collaborative laboratory of Luisa Mestroni, MD, and Matthew Taylor, MD, PhD (Cardiovascular Institute and Dept. of Medicine, University of Colorado Denver - Anschutz Medical Campus). The group utilizes iPSCs from patients to generate cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) for disease modeling, genome editing (via CRISPR/Cas9), and high-throughput drug screening. Experience with mammalian cell culture and good sterile technique is required. Experience with human iPSC culture is highly desirable. Experience with most basic molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blots, RT-PCR, cloning, immunocytochemistry, and DNA, RNA, and protein purification) is highly desirable. The group also utilizes bioengineering, nanotechnology methods, and animal models to develop tissue engineering and drug delivery methods for treatments of heart disease; experience with animals and tissue engineering is desired but not required. Fluency in English is required. Candidates are expected to have a Masters/PhD degree in molecular, cellular, or developmental biology, or bioengineering, or a closely related field. Evidence of a strong commitment to research from publications in high-impact journals and at least 3 references are required.
