Job Summary:
The Distance Education/Online Division is moving forward to address elements of the college's strategic plan to support equitable student success through expanding access to online degree and certificate completion options. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to student success and are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and experienced manager to help us empower, support, and advocate for them in implementing the college' mission.

The responsibilities of the Online Division Manager are to provide leadership, direction and management for online course development, quality, and faculty development including addressing online accessibility and the use of rich media for teaching and learning. Other important aspects of this role are developing academic plans and promotion of online programs to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities/Duties:
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises faculty, academic professional, technical/support staff and casual/student workers. Hires, evaluates, trains, develops, disciplines and recommends the dismissal of staff as necessary.
2. Creates and supports the development of multi-campus strategic offerings/initiatives. Creates and oversees complex work plans for the College Online Education program, online accessibility and digital media efforts.
3. Provides leadership and coordination with Division Deans, chairs, and faculty to improve cohesion of online degree and certificate offerings including development of a multi-campus online annual course schedule. Collaborates to fulfill faculty teaching assignments and schedules based on student demand and in accordance with established district policy.
4. Directs, plans, implements and manages the district wide online course development process, instructional design support, and quality course design reviews.
5. Provides leadership and promotes activities that supports evaluation and quality improvement in online courses and programs. Collaboratively establishes standards, policies, and procedures to enhance students' success, retention, and completion.
6. Directs, plans and oversees the implementation of faculty professional development programs relating to best practices in online teaching and other academic initiatives to support student success and completion. Oversees faculty mentoring program.
7. Develops and implements plans to ensure accessibility in online instruction. This includes compliance with federal regulations, support and training for faculty in designing accessible course materials, problem solving to address accommodation requests from students or faculty and adaptation of course materials or review and assessment of third party platforms.
8. Supervises coordination of media support and production staff/team. Oversees the team that creates production of high quality video, multi-media, and graphic materials to support the delivery of instruction and services. Directs, plans, implements and manages the district wide processes and operations of digital media. Collaborates with staff, faculty and clients to deliver instructionally and aesthetically sound media productions within the College and with external agencies providing production services.
9. Engages in marketing and otherwise promotes growth of online learning and services to meet and expand demand congruent with the College mission and strategic goals.
10. Develops and administers budgets in assigned areas of responsibility; implements and allocates resources following budget approval; approves expenditures.
11. Researches and implements new instructional strategies to remain competitive in the delivery of education; researches emerging technologies and their application to teaching and learning.
12. Plans, manages, budgets and evaluates projects and productions for the Division, ensuring the integration of activities with the College's online and operational functions. Ensures compliance with accessibility and other applicable state and federal regulations.
13. Serves as a liaison to applicable local, state, and national external agencies and businesses, the community, the general public, internal departments, and applicable educational institutions representing the College with respect to online programs, processes, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in any academic field from an accredited college or university.

Six years progressively responsible managerial experience, including three years of experience with online education, online teaching, instructional design, instructional technology, or faculty development in a higher education environment.

- Working with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff;
- Utilizing web technology for communication, data gathering and reporting activities;

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is generally performed in an office environment, production facilities, and at various locations throughout the District with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, guiding, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required.

Special/Preferred Qualifications:

Six years' experience supporting online instruction in post-secondary education that include two or more areas such as hiring and assessing online faculty, online course development/instructional design, instructional technology, course design reviews, online accessibility, faculty training or faculty development programs.

Three years online teaching experience in higher education

Proven experience working collaboratively across stakeholder groups to achieve goals.

Demonstrated experience managing, supervising staff, and supporting programs

Demonstrated highly effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with proven experience with conflict resolution;

Experience gathering, synthesizing and analyzing information from multiple sources and perspectives in order to make appropriate decisions for the division's people and program improvement

Project management and the ability to prioritize competing interests.
