Administrative Assistant I
The Office of Risk Management and Insurance is charged with reducing risk and minimizing the impact of losses on individuals and the university and provides consultative services to campus. We seek a motivated, detail-oriented individual to provide administrative support to our collaborative team. Responsibilities include: independently handling inquiries from faculty, staff, students, and outside organizations by providing appropriate solutions or direction to other resources; will utilize problem-solving skills to effectively gather relevant information, communicate, and provide prompt assistance; prepares executive management and financial reports; compiles, verifies, and analyzes complex and specialized claims and financial information; creates and edits detailed spreadsheets; creates and edits presentations; updates databases; monitors budget and expenses; completes various office tasks; and works on special projects and initiatives.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate's degree in a business related field, Insurance, Finance, Risk Management or Business Administration; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a business-related position including the use of spreadsheet, word processing, database, presentation software and/or electronic document processing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications
Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience providing administrative support; ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines with little supervision; practical experience working with university and risk management policies, procedures, and financial documents along with the ability to interpret and apply; experience working with highly confidential materials and issues associated with claims, lawsuits, and settlements; understanding of university structure; Enterprise Business System (EBS) experience; demonstrated strong interpersonal, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills; advanced customer service and communication skills coupled with ability to extract information from people with varying levels of knowledge and understanding to provide correct answers and direction; ability to work effectively with a small team focused on exceeding expectations; commitment to learning for continuous improvement; and experience keeping track of and meeting deadlines, handling requests for payments and reimbursements, and completing monthly account reconciliations.
