Instructional DesignerPosition Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine Academic Programs and Student Success is seeking an instructional designer to work with faculty and other University clients, as well as team members (artists, programmers, student developers) to consult, develop, and produce complete technology-enhanced courses for online, blended, and face-to-face educational programs. If offered this position, you will be a leader charged with developing innovative and engaging learning experiences in order to restructure existing courses to align with the CVM curriculum reinvention project. The incumbent in this position will employ current pedagogy and strategies to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate academically-rigorous curriculum. Performs other duties as assigned. For this position, you should enjoy learning new skills, solving problems, and have a passion for inspiring faculty and engaging students. You will also help develop and deliver faculty development workshops and events on teaching and learning with technology.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications
Project planning and management experience, master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field; experience organizing, developing, and delivering faculty development workshops; experience in implementing universal design; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; knowledge of, or experience with the Quality Matters framework; experience with multi media tools, including digital video, and other emerging technologies related to delivery of interactive content over the Internet; experience and/or interest in special projects (MOOCs, CBE, badging etc.); evaluating and remediating courses for accessibility and Section 508 compliance; experience with Agile development methods; faculty development or training experience; experience with UX methods; demonstrated ability to work through a design process with multiple constituencies; experience with learning management systems such as Desire2Learn, Blackboard, Moodle, or CanvasRequired Application Materials
