Position Summary

Provide assistance with animal patients; walking animals outside; cleaning unit and ward areas, stocking supplies, processing imaging consultant orders; entering charges in the hospital information system; assisting clinicians, veterinary technicians and clinical students with animal patients in the Radiology unit of the Veterinary Medical Center.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related work experience in a veterinary practice, maintaining accurate records, typing and basic computer skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with handling of cats and dogs; knowledge of animal restraint for medical procedures.

Work Hours

NON-STANDARD ( Monday through Friday 9am-6pm )

Summary of Physical Demands

Lifting of animal patients into cages and medical equipment; carrying animals between cages, gurneys and exam tables; pushing carts containing animals and equipment to other units; restraining animals for medical procedures.

Summary of Health Risks

Caring for animals with potential TB and rabies risk; may wear a respirator.
