Associate Director, Annual Giving
Reporting to the Director, Annual Giving, the Associate Director provides overall strategy, management and leadership for segmentation and execution of annual giving direct mail campaigns, digital communications, and the marketing plan/schedule, related technical processes and software, performance measurement, and goal setting.
This individual will work closely with the Director of Parent and Family Philanthropy to identify, recruit and manage parent leadership within parents' annual fund, and create a strategic plan that incorporates phonathon, electronic and direct mail solicitations and messaging.
The Associate director will serve as a liaison both within institutional advancement and across campus to build and strengthen partnerships to ensure timely and cohesive communication and solicitations.
Additionally, the Associate Director will create and implement strategy for the acquisition and retention of donors to Emerson College through various channels including, but not limited to, a consecutive giving society and day of giving campaign.
The Associate Director will have a small portfolio and will work to manage relationships to qualify, cultivate, solicit leadership level annual giving prospects.
This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and excellent organizational and time management skills. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a team player, and have the ability to build relationships across the College as well as with donors.

Bachelors degree required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, as well as knowledge of marketing tools and database experience needed. Direct experience with annual giving solicitation marketing required. The successful candidate must have exceptional organizational skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple tasks while paying close attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communications skills; creativity, initiative, and independence in carrying out responsibilities; demonstrated planning, and teamwork.
Direct experience with Banner and Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred. Experience with crowdfunding and other fundraising platforms also preferred.
Required Prior Work Experience:
5-7 years of nonprofit, development, management, annual giving, marketing, public relations, or similar professional work experience required. Knowledge of direct response fundraising, especially mail or marketing best practices and metrics needed. Demonstrated project management skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail and follow-through, and excellent organizational skills are essential.
