Senior Designer

Emerson College's Office of Marketing seeks an exceptionally-talented Senior Designer to support a wide range of intensely high-profile marketing efforts spanning the globe. The Senior Designer is a crucial member of the Marketing staff, and brings a wealth of design experience and a dynamic perspective, working to continuously keep the College's visual identity on the leading-edge.
The Senior Designer is not just a practitioner, but a leader with the ability to inspire internal teams, clients, and external partners to think differently about the role of design and its importance to growing and sustaining the reputation and prominence of the institution.
The Senior Designer possesses exceptional design talent and impeccable attention to detail, and is capable of both strategic planning and rapid execution across a diversity of media, audiences, and environments.

Campus Location: Boston Campus

Required Knowledge:
-Bachelors degree in related field.
-Unparalleled design ability across a diversity of platforms, including print collateral, digital advertisements, web sites, premiums, and social media.
-Excellent design judgement
-Experience in a design role in which the incumbent was solely responsible for final design product.
-Experience in environmental graphics and/or signage, with special attention to branded experiences.
-Exceptional attention to detail, including the tracking of projects from concept to completion.
-Highest-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
-Proven collaborative approach, including exceptional ability to take in, strategize present, and defend concepts for and by colleagues, clients, and partners.
-Expertise establishing, assessing, and communicating brand standards.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge:
-Master’s degree in related field a plus. -Expertise with HTML, CSS, and other web tools a plus. -Expertise with accessible digital design standards a plus.

Required Prior Work Experience:
-4-7 years professional experience in the corporate, agency, non-profit, or higher education sectors.

Job Duties:
  • Design -Provide leadership for the development and implementation of a new design paradigm for the College, including the implementation of a new institutional brand. -Intake, strategize, develop, and implement design across a variety of media to achieve crucial College goals. -Establish a cohesive design framework for the institution, including print collateral, digital advertisements, web sites, premiums, and social media. -Partner with the Video Production Manager to establish a unified design methodology for dozens of video projects annually. -Provide leadership for the development and implementation of branded experiences/environmental graphics both on-campus and off.
  • Brand standards -Assess, establish, and convey visual identity standards that apply across the institution. -Manage regular updates to the institution’s visual identity system. -Work with colleagues, vendors, and clients to enforce visual identity standards.
  • Partnerships -Partner with external vendors, internal colleagues, and clients to elevate the role and importance of design across the institution. -Serve as an ambassador of the Marketing staff with colleagues and clients across the institution. -Manage vendors to exact cost-efficient, timely product production and delivery that meets rigorous institutional standards for quality.
