Organization Description:
The Content and Digital teams within Emerson College Marketing focus on the content strategy, generation, and curation that tells the Emerson story and promotes the institutional brand to both external audiences as well as College constituents. We do this across mediums including print, web, photography, video, social media, out-of-home, and digital advertising.
Position Description:
We are seeking a talented student from any major or program with a special interest in one or many areas of digital media production, including but not limited to multimedia journalism, blogging, content marketing, video, and social media. This student will work to extend the reach of Emerson's brand by strategizing, planning, and producing original content. Beyond regular responsibilities and tasks, the experience will be largely tailored to the students' individual interests in media production and the types of content they would like to produce. This is a paid position where this student will learn how content strategy can be used to market an institution to its target audiences, gain experience working on a creative team, expand his or her skills in media production, and build a portfolio of professional work.

Required Knowledge:
Position Responsibilities: • Make regular contributions to the organic social media presence of the College through updates and multimedia content posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and/or others
• Write weekly blog posts for the Emerson Blog
• Pitch and plan story and multimedia content ideas to peers and Content team supervisors as part of an editorial process
• Manage individual calendar of content across blog and social media that supports the goals of the team and considers other content by ambassadors
• Assist the Digital and Content teams with the creation/curation of paid media and digital marketing campaigns for a range of constituents on (and off) campus
• Propose, plan, and produce one longer-form piece of original content to be completed by the end of the summer in media of student’s choice and published on the Emerson Blog and/or social media platforms. (This could be in the form of a video series, a long-form written piece for the blog, a photo project, etc.)
• Monitor industry and social media trends, keep up-to-date on relevant campus news, and research and evaluate social media and content strategy of other higher education institutions Desired Qualifications: • Experience with social media platforms and building an organic audience
• Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and groups
• Strong, versatile writing skills with a special interest in one or many areas of digital media production
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Interest in content strategy, marketing, journalism, or higher education a plus Desired Impact: • Increased brand awareness of Emerson College through social media and original content creation
