The division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Web Administrator. The Web Administrator will participate in architecture design, implementation and contribute to the day to day operational support of our enterprise-wide web hosting environment along with associated business continuity, high availability and disaster recovery environments. This complex environment includes databases, frontend servers, web engines, web applications, and proxy servers. These systems are load balanced and across multiple data centers. The Web Administrator will also be expected to assist in application upgrades and recommendations. The role is responsible for supporting customer initiatives, either through leading a team or in support of a team ensuring the execution of tasks within the team, developing applicable deliverables within assigned timeframes and supporting existing infrastructure. Perform system performance analyses and security audits, recommend reconfigurations to proactively eliminate future issues, and provide expert guidance and mentorship to website users and developers. Maintain servers related to the administration of the web hosting infrastructure. Research industry standard and cutting-edge technologies, including all forms of digital media; analyze and assess applicability to our business functions.
This positions responsibilities will include hosting websites, scanning websites for vulnerabilities, maintaining backups of websites and their databases, troubleshooting issues, investigating logs, and monitoring the hosting environment.
To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.
The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years website development and management experience, including WordPress. A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Communications, Digital Media, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Candidate must have proven problem solving skills and technical skills, a “can do” attitude and the ability to work through challenging situations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Must have the ability to interact with customers. Demonstrated continued professional growth and development. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and activities as both a lead and team member. Must show demonstrated initiative to research new technologies and must have the ability to interact with customers. Candidate must have demonstrated continued professional growth and development.
Experience with: the candidate must be very experienced with WordPress, and have some knowledge of WordPress multisites.
Knowledge of Linux is desired. The candidate should also be knowledgeable with mysql and some php.
