About the Position

With a focus on maximizing degree-level employer connections for students, the Employer Events Specialist assists employers in meeting recruiting targets, generating operating revenue for the department, and creating engaging events, the individual in this role leads and coordinates the stakeholder assessment, planning, promotion, delivery and evaluation of employer events across the SJSU campus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Assess the employer event needs of stakeholders, including: employers, students, student organizations, select faculty and administration, and department team members. When appropriate given the priorities of the department, consult with stakeholders to develop customized employer events. Considering stakeholder needs and conducting competitive analysis of regional career events develop an annual employer event thematic framework and schedule. Develop an annual events budget to optimize employer engagement and revenue while minimizing expenses. Provide event revenue and expense estimates to department leadership and department budget coordinator. Develop plans for event staffing, including roles and responsibilities. Communicate staffing needs and confirm staffing commitments in advance of events. Coordinate all event logistics, which may include (but are not limited to) facilities scheduling, catering, event registration and communications, safety and emergency procedures, and stakeholder arrivals and departures. Develop targeted promotional strategies and schedules that entice employers with degree-level positions to engage in career events and services and students with preferred qualifications to attend events. Provide on-site leadership to employer events to ensure the execution of engaging, successful and safe events. Analyze employer event evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.
