Fleet Manager/Driver Dispatcher
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the success of the drivers in their fleet. The manager has the responsibility for the profitability of each tractor in their fleet. The job entails acting as the driver advocate to the company as well as representing the company to the driver. The Fleet Manager is responsible for the performance of each driver in their fleet. They must communicate the loads to each driver, assuring that the driver has complete understanding of the load requirements including, pick up and delivery times, destination, and any special requirements. The manager must monitor the progress of the driver in picking up and delivering the load so as to assure service that is within the levels that are expected by the customer. They are responsible for accurate and timely computer input. They must monitor each driver's mileage and hours of service to assure that they stay within the required DOT regulations and maximize their pay miles. The Fleet Manager monitors and communicates with the driver concerning the all aspects of the driver behavior that impact the 5 key areas of focus below. The Fleet Manager is responsible for maintaining and coaching their fleet's driver behavior to attain the required measurement standards. This entails reduced out of route miles, idle time, hard braking, speed, fuel purchases and other behavior that contributes to safe and efficient operation of their fleet. The Fleet Manager is responsible for the availability of drivers on a daily basis.
All serious applicants will need to have a minimum of four years of dispatch experience in the trucking industry.
