Ice Hockey Coordinator will assist Goggin Ice Centers Director of Ice Hockey and Assistant Director for Student programs in the administration, management, supervision, and marketing of Goggin Ice Centers Student and Community ice hockey events and programs. Responsibilities include, but not limited to; teaching KNH classes, developing KNH lesson plans and syllabus for class taught by Goggin staff. Act as Goggin Ice Centers Manager on Duty for all Miami University Varsity Hockey games and assist with event management as needed. Act as director and main contact for Miami Youth Hockey’s Learn to Play, Learn to Skate, Skills sessions and adult hockey programing. Act as tournament director for Student and Youth hockey tournaments hosted by Goggin. This position will be responsible for assisting in the developing of strategic planning to increase revenue for Goggin Ice Center through creation of new programming.  Position reports to the Director of Ice Hockey and is a member of Goggin Ice Center’s management team.

 

 Duties/Physical Demands: Required to perform duties with limited supervision and will be required to make significant independent decisions. Responsible for training and supervising 25-45 staff; development of lesson/practice plans and marketing for youth programs, skills sessions, house leagues/programs, and travel hockey; Assists in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures for all hockey related programming with emphasis on current risk management. Act as Manager on Duty, as assigned, for facility coverage and a variety of other duties associated with all programming at Goggin ; Serve as Assistant Director of Miami’s Summer Ice Hockey Camp Management Team, which may include coaching; Serve as advisor for the Women’s ACHA D1 Program. Oversees the inventory control of ice hockey programs equipment and direct the ordering of new equipment with an emphasis on safety and risk management; Conducts daily safety assessments of facilities, vehicles and equipment and takes appropriate action. Assist in the coordination of all KNH classes as assigned, which may also include instructing hockey, broomball, or skating; Establish working relationships with individuals, other University departments, agencies, and groups that further enhance the mission of Goggin Ice Center. Oversee and support sponsorship agreements in conjunction with outside vendors with an emphasis on new revenue. Completes other duties as assigned.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: Experience in USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM) Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience in ice related sports and activities. Experience in ice hockey instructing and officiating, with knowledge of other ice related sports, activities and equipment. Employment for this position is contingent upon providing a set of fingerprint impressions and satisfactorily completing a criminal records check. USA Hockey coaching certification or ability to become certified.
