RESEARCH SPECIALIST D
Duties: Manage downstream analysis on patient samples in real time using a variety of methods and technologies, including flow cytometry/FACS sorting and use of experimental equipment in collaboration with corporate partner. Manage transalational research projects that presently involve a total of 3 clinical trials. Work collaboratively with PI and postdoctoral researchers to validate results and determine appropriate steps toward completion of multiple specific aims. Leveraging skills in cell and molecular biology, independently manage experimental design, evaluation and execution. Manage all aspects of support relative to the projects, including tissue culture, cell sorting, tissue culture and multi-colored flow cytometry. Serve as manager and subject matter expert relative to the unique and proprietary equipment being piloted in support of this breast cancer research. Flexible scheduling is required to accommodate the processing of surgical samples as they become available.
Qualifications: Minimum of a Master's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated and have the skill and confidence to work independently.
Experience with multicolored flow cytometry and cell culture is required. Experience in the following technical areas will also be useful: DNA/RNA isolation, cDNA/cRNA preparation, q-PCR, and immuno-fluorescent and histochemical microscopy. Excellent communication, analytical, computer, and organizational skills are essential, as well as keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment.
