Occupational Summary

Our laboratory is a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Center of Excellence that collaborates with NIH funded investigators in the discovery and characterization of novel drugs that target cell receptors and the signaling pathways mediating addiction. Complications of opiate use and dependence are currently a national crisis. As part of the effort to address the abuse potential of opiate drugs and the biochemical pathways responsible for their use, we are initiating a new project to investigate the self-administration of opioid drugs using an operant behavioral model in genetically-modified mice.
