Job Summary: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Anesthesia. The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia invites applications for a clinical track or tenure track position in anesthesia at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and advanced training in anesthesia. Board certification or completion of a residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia or European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia is required. Salary and entry rank will be commensurate with experience level of the applicant. Appointment at the associate professor rank requires a minimum of five years of experience in a similar position; appointment at the rank of full professor requires attainment of professor with tenure at an academic institution. The University of Georgia's Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a new state of the art facility. The anesthesia service is an active clinical service providing anesthesia for equine, food animal, small animal, and exotic patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The anesthesia service provides anesthesia to all species for diagnostic imaging, including MRI and helical CT. Clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is shared with another anesthesia faculty member at all times. After hours emergency anesthesia case responsibilities are shared with the anesthesia technicians and residents. The anesthesia service enjoys collegial relations and the support of all the specialty services that treat both large and small animals. The successful candidate will join an anesthesia service consisting of three full-time faculty members, two residents, and ten dedicated technicians. The primary responsibilities for this position are to participate in clinical service, veterinary and graduate instruction, resident and intern training, supervision of staff, and to engage in the research mission of the Department and College. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collegially are required. The successful candidate should have an interest in promoting a caseload that will serve the teaching and service needs of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The candidate is encouraged to participate in scholarly activities related to the clinical service and teaching missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Such scholarly activity includes collaboration with colleagues within the Department and College, and in other departments on campus.
