Summary of Job Duties

A combination of molecular and dry lab duties. The technician will be responsible for running the molecular lab, which involves DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, purifications, and preparation for sequencing. Real-time PCR screening of ticks and library preparation for next generation sequencing may be a responsibility in the near future. Molecular lab duties may also include things like ELISA, western blots, and reverse line blots. Dry lab duties will include basic insect and mite curation, database entry, and assisting with a diversity of ongoing projects in the lab.

Bachelor's degree in entomology, biology, or related fields. Must have molecular laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in entomology, biology, or related fields, or equivalent molecular laboratory work experience beyond bachelor's degree.

Thorough understanding of and ability to apply the scientific method.
