ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, FULL PROFESSORS IN POPULATION ANALYTICS FOR PUBLIC POLICY

Job ID 21965
Full/Part Time Full-Time
Location Columbia

Job Description

The College of Engineering at the University of Missouri is embarking on a large-scale, multi-disciplinary hiring effort for multiple faculty in the areas of Big Data Analytics, Biomedical Innovations, and Sustainability.

We invite applications for multiple tenure/tenure-track positions in population analytics for public policy starting August 15, 2017. Positions may be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level and may be joint between the MU College of Engineering and other disciplines such as the Truman School of Public Affairs, and the MU Department of Economics, depending on the disciplinary background of the applicant. The focus for the positions is the analysis of population and economic data sources (e.g., U.S. Census, Internal Revenue Service), health data, social media, or network data for improved public policy-making. The expansion of automated data collection and developments in survey technology have increased the availability of larger datasets, often with complex structures (e.g., panels with firm and individual data) and unstructured data (e.g., Twitter and Facebook posts, comments on news articles) to enable empirical analysis of questions that must be addressed with newly developed methods. MU population research is organized around a multidisciplinary population center (the Population, Education and Health Center). MU maintains a branch of the Federal Statistical Research Data Center system, providing local access to confidential federal data sources for authorized researchers.

Qualifications

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in industrial engineering/operations research, public policy, economics, demography or a related field; and strong written and oral communication skills. Senior applicants are expected to have a strong publication record in nationally recognized journals. Those with relevant postdoctoral experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Salary
