Rowan University is a public comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 17,300 students. Rowan University College of Performing Arts is seeking to hire the part-time Director of Rowan Prep, Rowan's community music school. Rowan Prep is a year-round program that employs over 30 faculty members and serves over 300 community members thorough private lessons, ensembles, and summer programming.
Expected Time Commitment:
  • The Director of Rowan Prep is a part-time position that constitutes 20 hour per week.
  • The Director of Rowan Prep must be available to run several evening and weekend events throughout the year.
Assignment Term:
  • The Director of Rowan Prep start date is approximately August 15, 2017 with an end date of June 30, 2018.
  • Continuation of employment into the following fiscal year is contingent upon budget appropriations.
Duties Include:
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations
  • Pairing students and teachers for lessons
  • Financial oversight of payroll and tuition payments
  • Maintaining necessary teaching staff
  • Seeking grant funding
  • Curriculum development
  • Webpage updates and marketing

Education Requirement:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a performing arts field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the College of Performing Arts faculty
  • Ability to facilitate the continued growth and expansion of Rowan Prep
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work on a team and flexibility
