The Co-op Counselor will provide support to co-op coordinators in two key areas.
Data Management & Employer Support: Assist Co-op Coordinators with the day-to-day workflow of preparing students for co-op placements. Areas of focus include maintaining relevant databases, compiling and analyzing data, information and reports, developing communication materials for students and employers, organizing co-op events, and providing on campus employer support. Coordinate efforts to maintain the completeness and integrity of data in various co-op systems. Develop and administer surveys, update/manage content on Co-op websites and LinkedIn group(s), utilize Banner, create forms and analyze data sets through Google Apps, Microsoft Excel, and other applications.
Preparation of Students for Co-op: Assist Co-op Faculty with advising students and responding to student questions. Areas of focus include resume writing, interviewing techniques, co-op technology and job search methods and strategies. Assist with preparation of co-op class materials and Blackboard course management. Conduct industry and market research in order to help students maximize their competitiveness in ever-changing marketplace.
The Co-op Counselor may be re-allocated to different teams depending upon the departmental student load within the COE Cooperative Education Co-op group.
Bachelor’s degree required in a related field. Candidate should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in an academic environment, relevant business environment, and/or working with students. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must have strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and complete tasks for a number of different people. A high level of proficiency with technology is required. Candidate will work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
