Adjunct Instructor - Ballet

Position Category: Staff - Temporary (PT Variable Hour)

Under the direction of the Department Chair and Ballet Program Coordinator, teaches courses in one or more of the following areas: all levels of Ballet Technique and Theory, Pointe, Variation, Character Dance, Music for Ballet Dancers, Choreography. Plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials, evaluates instruction and learning by means of written, oral, practical, and performance tests; maintains a student-oriented approach to teaching, submits student grades and all requested departmental materials in a timely manner. Attends mandatory adjunct meetings.

Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma with teaching and/or professional experience in ballet.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of subject matter and course content of courses taught.

Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Must have the ability to motivate and evaluate students as well as interact effectively with other dance faculty.

Physical Requirements:
Seeing: to observe dancers and written materials
Sitting: to sit on floor or in chair
Ability to move equipment and supplies and to set-up and take down for performances.
Reaching: to move supplies and equipment, perform dance movements
Dancing: to demonstrate appropriate skills/techniques
