Adjunct Instructor - Community Education (Part-Time Variable Hour)

Position Category: Faculty - Adjunct (Variable Hour)

-Designs and teaches a community education non-credit course;
-Prepares instructional materials including handouts and course syllabus;
-Maintains a student-oriented approach to student learning;
-Maintains and records student attendance;
-Provides an open, student-centered, discrimination free classroom environment.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in the subject matter or a closely related area; OR 2 years of experience teaching or closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of subject matter of class to be taught.
Knowledge of teaching principles for age group of course(s) taught.

Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.
Basic computer skills.

Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
Ability to work effectively with people.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expert on subject matter with formal or informal teaching experience.

Special Instructions to Applicant: Evening work may be required as the majority of Community Education courses are taught in the evenings to correspond with public demand. This position is posted on a continuous recruit basis. This means that applications are accepted even though there may not be a position currently available. Adjunct faculty are hired on an as needed basis for a semester appointment only. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon the results of a background check, which includes a criminal records check. A criminal conviction is not necessarily a bar to employment.
