Job Summary / Basic Function
The Vice President for Student and Academic Success is a key member of the executive leadership team and serves as the chief academic and student services officer for LIT. He/she performs duties necessary to formulate and implement the budget, staffing, policies and procedures, long range planning, faculty development programs, enrollment management, and student services initiatives. The position provides leadership for development and implementation of curriculum, industry-relevant career/technical education advancement, veteran's services, special populations and financial aid functions, and all required state and federal reporting.

1. Supervise and direct the selection and evaluation of personnel.
2. Provide leadership relative to recruitment and recommendations of new faculty.
3. Support and develop a climate promoting innovation and developing appropriate outcomes.
4. Assess instructional programs and student services to determine the effectiveness of the student learning, success programs, and enrollment strategies.
5. Work cooperatively with the Institute personnel in developing processes which are student-friendly and supportive of student success.
6. Develop a positive environment that supports teamwork and innovation.
7. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships across student services programs and instructional programs.
8. Foster instructional and institutional effectiveness.
9. Ensure accountability and compliance of student services and instructional programs with federal/state laws and regulations, and SACS-COC, TSUS and LIT policies and procedures.
10. Plan, develop, and administer the budget for student services and academic affairs.
11. Supervise student disciplinary/due process procedures.
12. Assist the President in articulation, outreach, and community efforts.
13. Serve on local, district, state, and national committees as directed by the President.
14. Keep informed of legislation affecting community college student services programs.
15. Provide instructional leadership in collaboration with the Dean, Department Chairs, faculty, administrators, and staff.
16. Ability to understand, analyze, and utilize pertinent data for strategic decision making.
17. Provide leadership in enrollment management, educational master planning, and overall instructional effectiveness.
18. Responsible for collaborating with institutions of higher education and K-12 to enhance services for students.
19. Ensure that the evaluation of instructional faculty and staff are conducted on a regular and systematic basis in accordance with LIT policies and procedures.
20. Supervise the preparation and distribution of the college catalog, faculty handbook, student handbook, schedule of courses, and other related documents.
21. Submit curriculum changes and additions to appropriate state and accrediting agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

7 years progressively responsible administrative experience in a post-secondary educational setting. Must have served in a Dean position or higher. Full-time teaching experience at the community college level.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree is preferred.

Demonstrate an ability to effectively integrate the academic and student success activities of the college.
Demonstrate commitment to participatory governance, consensus building, and team approach to management.
Effective communication skills that foster a collegial, collaborative working environment.
