The School of Physician Assistant Practice at the College of Medicine


The Clinical/Counseling Psychologist in College of Medicine (COM) Student Counseling Services will participate in the planning, management, and leadership of FSU COM Student Counseling Services which provides educational and psychological counseling services for the School of Physician Assistant Practice in the College of Medicine. The Clinical Assistant Professor will participate in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures regarding counseling services and academic support services to include disabled student services, and substance abuse, prevention, education, and intervention services. As faculty, the incumbent will be expected to be active in teaching, clinical service, and research consistent with the College of Medicine's mission.
The incumbent will be responsible for advising students and developing strategies to address academic deficiencies; for the initial evaluation, screening, and referral as appropriate of matriculated students with academically related stress or other personal problems that could interfere with their performance in school; for developing and managing a network of referral relationships with qualified practitioners who can provide additional services for students if required; and for providing individual counseling to matriculated students on a short term basis.


The School of Physician Assistant Practice seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. in an American Psychological Associate approved counseling or clinical psychology program to include APA approved pre-doctoral internship and Florida licensure as a psychologist, or eligibility to obtain within 90 days of employment. Candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have at least 2 years of experience in counseling or clinical psychology, with a minimum of 1 year of post-doctoral clinical experience in individual, group, and couples counseling to include educational evaluations, psychological assessments, and/or consultations.


One year of postdoctoral work experience with students in a medical or college counseling center.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated salary and rank will be commensurate to education, skills, and experience.

This is a Faculty position.
