Job Summary/Basic Function:
General Description:
The purpose of this position is to perform routine administrative tasks to ensure efficient daily departmental operations, and provide support to students. This is accomplished by receiving and routing departmental phone calls, handling walk-ins, providing clerical assistance to include typing, printing, copying and faxing, maintaining databases, and distributing mail. Other duties include organizing department filing system, keeping records and spreadsheets, and assisting with registration as needed.

Essential Job Functions:
This position provides clerical and administrative support by answering multi-line telephone; copying and faxing; typing correspondence; entering data; assisting students and visitors; maintaining filing system; and organizing meetings.

Performs other routine support tasks primarily involving customer service and support/clerical activities by answering routine inquiries; providing mail and parcel drop off and retrieval from post office; ordering and distributing supplies; running errands as needed throughout campus; making personal deliveries to other departments; and performing additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Job Requirements:

Education/License Required: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge is equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

Experience Required: Over six months and including one year.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Position typically has no responsibility for supervision or direction of others.

Position requires proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Personal contacts are with employees within the work unit and/or general public, including students, in a highly structured situation which involves obtaining, clarifying, or giving facts or information.

This position performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.

This position title requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.

This position has no budgetary responsibility.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary, The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside narrow storage closets and cabinets and lift, carry or load instrument cases and other equipment weighing up to 20 pounds from or to heights of 3-4 feet; sitting most of the time.
