Nature of Work

This position serves a widely diverse student population in an effort to enhance the experience for our student athletes upon arriving to campus, while on campus and after graduation. This position will review academic records of student athletes to determine the need for academic support services, and create educational plans for student athletes requiring the additional academic support. Provide academic coaching for those students in need of the additional service. This position works directly with the Senior Academic Advisor for Student Athletes.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Minimum of one year experience in teaching, counseling, academic advisement or academic record assessment. The qualified candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work with students from diverse ethnic, educational and cultural backgrounds and be familiar with the academic and social issues they face. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with faculty, staff, coaches and members of the community; excellent written skills. Ability to use a high level of critical thinking skills and have the ability to accurately advise students in many aspects of their college experience. The qualified candidate will have the ability to create and analyze data pertinent to the success of the student athlete. Computer aptitude and skills to perform their daily tasks using a typical office software package such as Microsoft Office.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree is preferred. Prior experience working one-on-one with student athletes and academic at risk individuals. Experience with Student Information Systems such as Banner SIS is preferred.

$33,137(minimum) - $46,729 (midpoint)

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position revolves around the typical office work environment, but may require occasional nights or weekend duties. Ability to sit for long periods using a computer keyboard and mouse. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
