The Anthropology Department at the University of Connecticut is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor in Residence, beginning in Fall 2017. The successful candidates will provide undergraduate teaching at the Storrs campus.

The successful candidates will be expected to share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate level and to the mentoring of students in their professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Anthropology; a strong record of outstanding teaching in a university setting; at least three years of experience in teaching anthropology to undergraduate students; and at least three years of experience and demonstrated excellence teaching college-level writing-intensive courses.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching college-level courses on cultures of the Caribbean and the anthropology of race.

Appointment Terms

This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position, which may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. The teaching load for this position is seven 3-credit courses per year, or the equivalent. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2017.
