ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, HR, ARTS & SCIENCES
Duties: The Associate Director manages day-to-day operations of the Penn Arts & Sciences human resources department. Make strategic recommendations to improve efficiency and quality of HR processes and programs by managing, analyzing and interpreting data. As a member of the Arts & Sciences HR team, assist with HR-related project work and provide policy interpretation and sophisticated problem solving for faculty and staff. Direct assigned human resources functions for the School of Arts and Sciences in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Work with University systems and data to include payroll, applicant tracking, position requisition and other HR related systems. Collaborate with other University offices in support of the Arts & Sciences HR function. Direct the recruitment function for the school which includes managing the Recruitment Manager. Successful candidate will have the ability to understand cause and effect, be detail oriented, high engagement ability, extraordinary listening skills, superb customer service and collaboration skills, with highly organized, efficient work habits. Reports to the Executive Director Organizational Strategy in Penn Arts & Sciences.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 5 years' minimum of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Previous HR experience in compensation, recruitment and/or training/OD and employee relations strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy required. Must have demonstrated exceptional customer service skills. Uses knowledge gained from previous situations to inform future actions. Knowledge of HR law strongly preferred. Strong Microsoft Office skills required. Experience with PennWorks and other Penn payroll and HR related systems preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred. SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
