Unit Job Summary: The Research Professional - FinTech works with the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation to manage field research, including establishing and maintaining relationships with field partners, coordinating data collection and entry, conducting statistical analysis and maintaining databases. Additionally, the Research Professional will provide other support associated with faculty research and curriculum development in FinTech entrepreneurship. FinTech is an important and evolving field where Chicago Booth and the University of Chicago see incredible opportunity within the changing landscape. Chicago Booth and the University of Chicago have been leaders in finance for decades. This position will support continued thought leadership in this field, while creating new programming and entrepreneurial resources to support the innovation-focused work of our students, alumni, and the larger community. The Americas Alternative Finance Industry Survey/Report is one result of our expanded thought leadership in FinTech. The Research Professional-FinTech would serve as a main contact on this project, working alongside with other faculty and staff from the Polsky Center and Booth. This report would continue to be collected in the coming year in collaboration with the Cambridge Centre on Alternative Finance. This position is expected to last one year. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Contact potential field research partners, establish and maintain relationships with those field partners in FinTech as a part of the Americas Alternative Finance Industry Survey/Report and other general work. - Support key faculty in the development of new courses on FinTech. - Collect data, conduct complex statistical analysis, and organize the presentation of results. - Create charts, tables, and descriptive text for presentations. - Maintain databases, reviews background materials, and performs preliminary research. - Support our integrated FinTech research and entrepreneurial support efforts. - Some work-related travel to represent the School at industry-related events.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a field relevant to the research being conducted required.

Unit Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant research experience required. Paid experience conducting field experiments?especially in school settings?is preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Ability to interact with faculty, students, and staff successfully required. Strong quantitative background and proven data analysis skills are required. Knowledge of research techniques or methods required. Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. Excellent and professional verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail, required. Ability to work well independently, with others, and to meet deadlines under pressure is required. Ability to coordinate/collaborate with the marketing and PR departments to ensure the research findings are disseminated required.
