This position will assist the director in the delivery of services of a comprehensive career services program for students and alumni. This position will assist students with job-search related coaching, perform employer outreach, help coordinate employer events and other employer outreach efforts. This position will also provide career advising and outreach to help students explore majors and careers, assess their skills and interests, help students engage in high impact practices such as internships and other initiatives to help them achieve their academic and career goals. Coordinate college specific outreach, programming, and customized seminars/workshops/programs based on student needs assessment and faculty requests. Work with and advise faculty/college administrators on the methods to enhance the quality of experiential learning/career development and to expand departmental participation. Develop and monitor student outreach efforts utilizing technology and social media to engage and inform.

Job Duties:
  • Foster relationships across campus as well as with employers to increase collaborative efforts and communication of career opportunities
  • Provide counseling to students and alumni in career planning skills and job search strategies
  • Assist in maintaining Career Center presence at various campus events
  • Assist/Facilitate in the creation of career events including fairs, workshops networking events, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with other campus departments as well as Career Center staff to create specific career programming for targeted students
  • Research career fields and industries as well as job market information and incorporate into career counseling appointments
  • Help employers target specific majors and market job/internship opportunities accordingly
  • Update and maintain active employer contact database for recruiting and job posting purposes
  • Explore alternative sites on campus to engage students
  • Explore various methods for engaging students on campus through creative/innovative methods, new trends and powerful presentations
  • Enhance engagement to students/alumni through online and social media platforms
  • Become knowledgeable of Career Center policies regarding job and internship postings in order to educate employers and campus constituents on appropriate postings
  • Learn campus content management system for website enhancement and development
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required

  • Understand the need for some flexible working hours due to career events

For the purposes of FLSA this position has been determined to be exempt from (not eligible for) overtime under FLSA

Salary: $47,500

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 2 years' experience in outreach role

• 1-3 years' experience in career services, recruiting or marketing
• Experience working with companies and other constituencies

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in career counseling, counseling, higher education, marketing, communication or related degree

• Experience developing effective resumes

• Experience in planning and marketing events

• Experience with career counseling
