PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION AVAILABLE IN NEUROSCIENCE

Job Summary: The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant in the Neuroendocrinology Laboratory of Robert L. Spencer, Ph.D. The lab studies the interaction between stress hormones and clock gene expression in the circadian regulation of prefrontal cortex function, with use of rodent animal models.

This is a full-time position on the Boulder Campus. Working hours are typically 8:00am-5:00pm weekdays.

Job Responsibilities: Duties will include assistance with gene and protein expression measures (qPCR, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, western blot), hormone assays (RIA, ELISA), microscopy, cloning, animal handling, animal surgical procedures, data analysis and general lab administration/management (e.g. supply ordering, inventory, chemical and radioactive waste disposal). The individual must have the ability to work independently, to work well with others, and to provide quality procedural training to students.

The salary range is $32,000-$35,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. The University offers a full benefits package.

Qualifications

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, physiology, biology or other related field of study from an accredited college or university.

• At least 1 year of relevant lab experience.

Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Solid cell biology working knowledge.

• Basic wet-lab procedures and best practices.

• Computer spreadsheets.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience with in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry and qPCR.

• Previous experience with rodent handling and stereotaxic surgery.

• Intellectual engagement in the laboratory's research mission.
