This is an entry-level Veterinary Technician position providing technical support to the Veterinary Services Unit in the Animal Services Division of the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) located at UW-Madison. The successful applicant will assist WNPRC Veterinary staff in performing a wide range of duties relating to the care of nonhuman primates at the WNPRC. This position requires an individual with strong oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to make decisions in emergency situations. Additionally, the candidate should have an understanding of, and willingness to learn, animal behavior, particularly that of nonhuman primates and the basic understanding of communicable diseases and transmission of disease amongst humans and nonhuman primates. Some experience as a veterinary technician in a small animal clinic or laboratory setting is preferred.
Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm
Occasional night and weekend work hours may be required
Must be willing to work occasional overtime and weekend hours
The possibility exists that schedule may transition to Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday.
