Job Description Summary: As a key member of the Director of Athletics and Vice President of Development Leadership Teams, the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs will assist both departments in providing strong vision, leadership, management, coordination and oversight of all athletics external operations. This position will officially report to the Vice President of Development and have a strong dotted line to the Director of Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to oversight for all athletic fundraising efforts, Sports Information and Athletics Marketing/Promotions, Game Day Facilities and Operations, and Video Services. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for interaction with colleagues, coaches, donors, trustees, students, alumni, parents and friends of Furman University. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Self-confidence, strong organizational skills, and effective time management skills are essential. Ability to effectively represent the University and to work effectively in a team environment with a mix of alumni and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications: At least 5 years of major gifts fundraising, management and proven leadership experience in the world of college athletics. Working knowledge and exposure to the best practices of college athletics and fundraising. True leadership ability as well as imagination, innovation and creativity. A keen ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with President, Trustees, AD and VP of Development and leadership team. Confidence in delivering presentations to small and large groups. Must be willing to work as a leader of an energetic team. Must adhere to the stated principles of Development at Furman and acquire an appreciation for Furman University history and aspirations as one of the nation's leading liberal arts institutions. Commitment to customer service and high touch interaction with Furman University constituents. Experience with Raisers Edge preferred. Must maintain attention to detail.

Salary Grade: Level 13 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
