Job Summary: The Associate Dean for Science Education, Research and Technology will be a senior-level leadership position reporting directly to the Dean. This position will be a key participant on the College's senior leadership team and will serve on executive, graduate, strategic planning, self-study and accreditation committees. Science Education: The Associate Dean will have oversight of all undergraduate and graduate education in the College outside the professional Pharm.D. education and its related programs. The Associate Dean will provide leadership and oversight for enrollment management, curricular development and strategic planning, academic policy, student services, program review, and university relations. The Associate Dean will ensure compliance with policies and procedures, analyze institutional data, prepare reports, make recommendations for changes in policy or procedures, and handle confidential problems that arise in the College. Research: The position also will provide leadership for the College's research program. The position will facilitate and support faculty research efforts, collaborate with college administrators in planning ongoing faculty development opportunities related to research, and collect, analyze and periodically report research productivity data to the faculty, as well as College and University administrators. The Associate Dean will oversee research infrastructure, lab safety, compliance with university, state and federal policies, and regulations regarding research. The position also will oversee the College's Centers and Institutes. Technology: The position will provide oversight for technology venture and commercialization for technologies originating in the College for research educational purposes. Undergraduate and graduate programs * Oversee and work to increase the College's undergraduate and graduate program offerings both in terms of quantity and quality. Lead strategic planning for the undergraduate programs * Lead review of curriculum proposals, curriculum changes, and new program development; serve on the College's Graduate and Undergraduate Committee as an ex-officio member * Maintain an effective assessment process and coordinate Program Review for undergraduate and graduate programs * Oversee advertising, admission and enrollment management activities and retention efforts of undergraduate and graduate students * Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, make recommendations for changes in policy or procedures, and handle confidential problems that arise in regard to undergraduate issues * Oversee the Regulatory Sciences Program and the Clinical Trials Design and Management Certificate Program * Foster the development of interdisciplinary and interinstitutional relations to aid in the training and education provided in the Regulatory Sciences Program Research and Technology * Assist the Dean and College Administration in facilitating growth of the College's research portfolio by promoting faculty scholarship and success in securing public and private funding * Serve as the central research advocate for the College and promote collaborative interdisciplinary research across the faculty and externally with other individuals, organizations and stakeholders * Represent the College at appropriate University committees, functions and activities that relate to research and scholarship and ensure College compliance with University research regulations * Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with all relevant faculty, groups within the University, and local, national, and international research organizations * Provide oversight for technology venture and commercialization for technologies originating in the College for research educational purposes * Administer the College's seed grant funding program to include facilitation of the application, review and selection process as well as adherence to funding agreements and report submissions * Oversee the College's research facilities and ensure compliance with lab safety, licensures, protocols, and procedures * Oversee all Institutes and Centers within the College * Oversee the planning and implementation of two international regulatory science conferences that are co-sponsored with the FDA Other * Assist with strategic planning for the College to include facilitating periodic review and revision of the strategic plan * Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: * Doctoral degree in a health science related field and ten years of independent research experience * Candidates must be eligible for tenure at the University of Georgia based on the university's guidelines. For more information, please visit: http://provost.uga.edu/index.php/policies/appointment-promotion-and-tenure * Experience and familiarity with Federal government funding mechanisms * Successful record of scholarship, including external funding and publication in peer-reviewed journals * Strong evidence of leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration * Superior written and oral communication ability as well as diplomatic skills * Experience in organizational and/or program assessment and evaluation * Demonstrated experience in leading and performing in a dynamic academic environment * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relations with all segments to the institutional community, external agencies and the public

Preferred Qualifications: * Doctoral degree in a health science related field and twenty years of independent research experience * Background/experience in the pharmaceutical and regulatory sciences * Demonstrated understanding of biotech and pharmaceutical industry needs
