We are currently seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist who will advance the institution's proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

The Opportunity

Your mission: Recruit exempt and nonexempt personnel, faculty, adjunct faculty and temporary employees. Interview and/or screen applicants to determine suitability for posted positions by matching experience with specific job-related requirements

A typical day: Because you'll be involved in all phases of recruiting, on any given day you'll be doing things like posting requisitions in the automated applicant tracking software; maintain Applicant Tracking System records and compile reports from database; and working on communications and recruitment materials (e.g., job announcements, recruitment letters, drafts for print and/or digital ads, etc.). You may also need to provide technical guidance and instructions for hiring managers. On occasion, you'll be off-site, representing HCC at a conference, special community event or job fair.

Support the Talent Acquisition area by performing Talent Engagement related duties utilizing a considerable amount of discretion and independent judgement. Serve as a resource/contact person for the Talent Acquisition area by coordinating employment processes, reporting and other department initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Interview and/or screen applicants to determine suitability for posted positions by matching experience with specific job-related requirements;
  2. Maintain ongoing knowledge of all specialized functions of the HCC system; including a full understanding of the organizational structure along with knowledge of personnel policy and procedures;
  3. Conduct recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel, faculty, adjunct faculty and temporary employees;
  4. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals;
  5. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services provided, including, but not limited to onboarding/hiring processes;
  6. Maintain Applicant Tracking System records and compile reports from database;
  7. Achieve project quantity and quality deliverables on time and within budget;
  8. Participate in developing and/or administering department goals, objectives and systems; and
  9. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as requested.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.


Associate degree required.

Bachelor's degree preferred.


Three (3) years work experience in Talent Engagement or Recruitment required.

Experience in Talent Engagement in Higher Education considered a plus.

Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems preferred.
  1. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  2. Solid knowledge of principles and practices of Talent Acquisition and Engagement;
  3. Skill in interviewing techniques;
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills;
  5. Able to research and analyze various different type of data;
  6. Able to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment which is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law;
  7. Able to maintain and ensure the confidential nature of the HR Office and Records;
  8. Able to carry out assigned projects to their completion with minimal supervision;
  9. Able to work independently with a multitude of tasks;
  10. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form;
  11. Able to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and external entities; each of which require cooperative efforts on both sides; and
  12. Able to organize and prioritize work.
