About the Position
Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Outreach and Recruitment and under limited supervision, this position markets San Jose State University (SJSU) and facilitates the admission process of all service area high schools and community college students. The Lead Admission Counselor and Recruitment Programs Coordinator, promotes and directs recruitment events both on and off campus. Collaborates with various SJSU constituents, high schools, community colleges, and other members of the educational community to promote San Jose State University; providing services, accurate and timely information, to ensure that prospective students make informed decisions in the admission process. Works within the applicable policies established by appropriate federal, state, system, and campus entities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Leads and coordinates the work of SOAR staff and student workers. Trains and contributes to performance evaluations, delegates and reviews assignments and projects, evaluates work projects and results, and establishes and monitors timelines to prioritize work. Provides input in the development of marketing and recruiting strategies that are responsive to Enrollment Management needs. Collaborates with Communications and Publications to develop training materials and presentations for internal and external use. Leads the work of the student paraprofessionals (University Ambassador) program, including the leadership development of these student leaders. Maintains and updates databases and generates regular reports on unit activities. Prepares proposals, reports, and data regarding campus tours and implements improvements based on customer feedback. Provides input in the preparation and monitoring of annual program budgets including recommendations and justifications regarding budget requests. Develops and recommends courses of action, implements proposed solutions, plans and coordinates training activities for staff with multifaceted work assignments regarding all processes related to the work distribution, processes, communications, and implementation. Provides academic advising, counseling, analysis, and assessment for new and returning graduate students and prospective applicants attempting to complete Title 5, CSU and University requirements relating to graduate admission, degree candidacy and graduation requirements.
