Department Description:
USD is an independent private institution that retains its Roman Catholic identity. The University has over 5,500 undergraduate and approximately 2,600 graduate students. Spanish Renaissance architecture is the inspiration for buildings on the beautiful 180-acre hilltop campus that has views of the Pacific Ocean.

The School of Business offers several bachelor's degrees, MBA degrees and specialized masters' degrees, including master's degrees in accountancy (MACC) and taxation (MTAX). The School holds AACSB business and separate accountancy program accreditations. Both undergraduate and master's programs are highly ranked, e.g., the MBA program is ranked in the top 30 domestically and the top 60 internationally in The Financial Times. The School has hired a large number of junior faculty in recent years and has developed an active and successful research environment.

The Department of Accountancy, with approximately 175 graduates per year, is ranked among the top 50 undergraduate accounting programs in the United States. USD is a target recruiting school for all the large accounting firms and a number of major corporations. There are currently 13 full-time faculty members.

San Diego is a major city approximately 100 miles south of Los Angeles and 20 miles north of the U.S. - Mexican border. San Diego has a temperate Mediterranean climate with highs averaging 65 degrees in December through February and 76 in August and September. On average, San Diego has only 41 days a year with measurable rainfall.

The Department of Accountancy at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Business invites applications for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position that begins either Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. We will be interviewing candidates at the AAA conference in San Diego (August 7-8).

Detailed Description:
The Department of Accountancy at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Business invites applications for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position that begins either Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. We will be interviewing candidates at the AAA conference in San Diego (August 7-8).

We are looking for a collegial individual who has a Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB accredited university. Applicants should enjoy teaching financial accounting and/or managerial/cost accounting in our BACC, MACC and MTAX programs. The department's demographics suggest that multiple professors will be retiring over the next several years. We are, therefore, looking for individuals who are interested in a balance between teaching, research and service and who are willing to eventually assume leadership roles within the department.

New hires typically start with a teaching load of 2 sections per semester (4 per academic year). Most senior faculty teach 3 sections per semester (6 per academic year), but some release times are available.

Job Requirements:
We are looking for a collegial individual who has a Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB accredited university.

Salaries are competitive with the AACSB private schools but tend to be below those at major state schools.
