Visiting Assistant Professor of Business Communications (NOT Tenure Track)


Visiting Assistant Professor of Business Communications. One position beginning August, 2017. Hiring is contingent upon maintaining existing levels of state funding. Full time, not tenure track; this position is for one year, with an additional year possible.


Teach four courses per semester at graduate and undergraduate levels primarily in the area of Business Communications at our downtown campus, advise students, and participate in departmental and college-level service. Must be available to teach online, on-campus, day, evening, or weekend classes.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Communications, English, Education, or an MBA; a minimum of one year of recent, post-secondary teaching experience with a course load of at least 12 credit hours per year; minimum of one year of full-time business/professional experience; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to design and teach Communications courses using lectures, discussions, and presentation (oral and written) and demonstrated experience working with university students of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree in Communications, English, Education, Business or Law; three years university teaching experience in Business Communications; three years of full-time business/professional experience; and ability to design and teach Communications course using current digital communications platforms; and the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.


The Department has 13 full-time faculty members and offers coursework at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels.


The College of Business Administration has over 69 full-time faculty members. Its programs are accredited at both the graduate and undergraduate levels by AACSB. Enrollment in the College exceeds 3,000 students. Degrees offered by the College include the DBA, MBA, MLRHR, Master of Accountancy, Bachelor and Master of Computer Information Science, BBA and a joint MBA-JD.


Cleveland State University enrolls approximately 17,730 students. It is located within walking distance of the downtown business and entertainment centers and has strong ties with the business and public sectors in Northeast Ohio.
