Miami University’s Office of Admission seeks an energetic, creative, and collaborative individual to serve as Admission/Senior Admission Counselor.  In partnership with admission team members, the admission counselor/senior admission counselor will play an integral role in the realization of organizational priorities and institutional goals and assume the management of a first-year recruitment territory to include 6-8 weeks of travel, application review, and relationship management.

In addition to assigned territory management and collaboration on admission events and programs, this position will assist with recruitment of underrepresented and international students.  The Admission Counselor will assist with coordination and implementation of opportunities for underrepresented and international students, such as the Bridges Program, Day of Champions, group visits and CBO partnerships, advise and mentor the Miami Ambassadors Creating Change student organization, and coordinate current student involvement with the Office of Admission diversity initiatives.

Candidates with more than two recruitment cycles of experience in admission, or more than two years of experience in higher education, recruitment, or marketing may be considered for Senior Admission Counselor.

 

Duties/Physical Demands: Develop working knowledge of Miami University programs, opportunities and policies and communicate information about the Miami brand, experience, and outcomes and its admission policies and procedures to prospective students, families, including but not limited to communication to constituents within territory, presentations and counselor on duty responsibilities. (35%) Manage assigned recruitment territory, including 6-8 weeks of travel, through the use market research and other admission data; prepare statistical reports and analysis. (25%) Participate in electronic file review for the Bridges Program, undergraduate domestic and international review, College Credit Plus, and the Summer Scholars Program. (20%) Build and maintain relationships with high school and community based organization staff within assigned territory. (10%) Organization, coordination, management of on- and off-campus recruitment events, and counselor programs. (7%) Other duties as assigned. (3%) Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (at the time of application)

Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing ability

High level of organizational and self-starting skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Demonstrated commitment to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds

Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various software applications, preferred Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency

Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. of recruiting materials

Valid driver’s license

Ability to perform overnight travel
