Essential functions of this position:
The primary purpose of the Locksmith, Carpentry & Paint Shop Supervisor position is to provide supervision, layout and modifications to keying systems, facility structures and painting scheduling, record keeping, assigning work orders, monitoring operational and project expenditures, maintaining departmental work standards, training and managing employees. Work orders are managed by interface via computer with the department automated facility management system software. This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow, ice and/or debris removal.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Advanced level knowledge of master keying systems and practices for repair and installation of lock and key systems
Manual skill in making minute filings and insertions
Ability to maintain automated key records, security of keys, patterns and combinations
Ability to design, install and repair electronic locking systems
Journey level knowledge of carpentry skills and ability to apply them
Ability to plan work operations, follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with department heads and other trade and contract workers, both orally and written
Ability to supervise journey level workers
Ability to use computers for memos, work order system interface, data entry and e-mail
Experience with layout of keying systems and carpentry project layout or equivalent combination of education and experience
Journey level knowledge of master keying systems and practices for repair and installation of lock and key system

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Licensed by the state of North Carolina to perform and supervise Locksmith services in accordance with NC statute 74F (Locksmith Licensing Act)
NC Driver’s License required

Recruitment Range: $54,380 - $56,711
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 72
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 7:00AM - 4:00PM - The position is also subject to overtime and "call back" on a regular basis to attend to emergency locking system repairs. This position may be required to be present during weather and other emergency situations.
