Experience Requirement: The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science and Engineering Technology at Sam Houston State University seeks an individual broadly trained in Ecology and Environmental Science to fill a professorship at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates who study aquatic ecology, ecosystem ecology, sustainability science, environmental science, and or urban ecology are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates who identify innovative, cross-disciplinary research programs that integrate several of these fields are of particular interest. The successful candidate will be required to develop an externally funded research program involving undergraduates and masters-level graduate students in addition to conducting collaborative research within the Department of Biological Sciences and College of Science and Engineering Technology.
Usual Duties: Research, teaching and service.
Degree Requirements: The successful candidate will have earned a B.S. and a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences or a closely related field. Postdoctoral research experience and prior teaching experience are preferred.
Other Requirements for the Position: Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, courses in Sustainability and Environment, Environmental Science, Environmental Toxicology, Aquatic Biology, General Ecology, in addition to upper-level undergraduate, as well as graduate, courses in the candidate's specific area of expertise. The candidate will be expected to contribute to a newly formed Environmental Science program which is an interdisciplinary program consisting of coursework from the departments of Biological Science, Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, and Geography/Geology. This new program will consist of two student tracks - Environmental Pollution and Environmental Sustainability.
