Posting Summary:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our research team as a Research Assistant Professor. As cross grounds efforts, a strategic clinical translational goal of the Strategic Initiative Fund by the University of Virginia will develop Tregulatory cells for adoptive transfer into patients with type 1 Diabetes. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, validation, and translation of the clinical product to the bedside as well as monitor the effects of the product on the patient's metabolic and immune responses.

The selected candidate must have a PhD in immunology. Successful applicants must have a strong background in immunology, expertise in T cell activation and culture, T cell signaling, and skills in purifying and/or inducing Treg cells. Experience with multicolor flow cytometry, luminex, immunoblotting, and cell-based assays is required. In depth experience in human primary lymphocyte isolation, purification, culture, phenotyping, and functional assays to measure signaling and immune responses; experience with measuring the effects of Tregs in in vivo and in vitro Treg cell assays; and experience with xenogeneic mouse models is preferred.
