Duties: The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a proven collaborator with leadership experience and vision to help grow the Penn Program in Environmental Humanities (PPEH). PPEH develops and supports publicly engaged research and inquiry on the environment at the intersection of the arts and sciences and aims to play a key role in fostering advanced transdisciplinary scholarship, innovative curricular initiatives, and broad community participation in PPEH projects in Philadelphia and beyond. The Managing Director will work closely with the Faculty Director and the Program's Advisory Board to foster a collaborative and open knowledge community and to develop and manage the Program's expanding infrastructure and services. Reporting to the Faculty Director and the SAS Dean's office, the Managing Director will be primarily responsible for overseeing and insuring smooth and effective day to day operations and will also develop the Program's activities around four interwoven themes: broadly interdisciplinary research and teaching on the environment, urban environments and urban ecology, living archives, and public engagement.

Qualifications: The Program seeks a professional with exceptional promise of success in one or more areas of environmental humanities, an innovative researcher and a team-builder who communicates credibly and effectively across this field's diverse stakeholders.

Ph.D., terminal Masters, or comparable educational background in the humanities, including the fine arts, or relevant field of the social sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Essential qualifications are:

*Demonstrated expertise in public humanities and/or citizen science projects
*Demonstrated experience with project management for academic research
*Experience in an administrative position with supervisory responsibilities
*Experience with budget management and oversight of financial operations
*Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
*Excellent organizational habits and ability to manage and prioritize diverse activities
*Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
